Hexenbesen: Witches Broom.

a series of drawings focusing on the chaotic growth found on various types of trees.

Drawing can be seen as a gestural and physical act which an embody both a moment of thought and a life time of intense observation.

This series of drawn images in graphite and charcoal reflect unnatural growth in trees but can also suggest parallels with our own thoughts and dreams.

Pathways are created, broken, reinforced, dissolved. There is fragmentation and loss. Memories on the edge of reclamation scurry away into oblivion.

There is a relationship between surface and depth that is both complicated and confusing, here no truths exist only fragile memories.

'it is the way a drawing can hover on the edge of existence that makes its language so eloquent'.
